Total Commitment!

The effects of climate change are becoming increasingly apparent. Trees and forested areas contribute greatly in storing CO2, preventing erosion and creating regional economic cycles. It is no coincidence that the term 'sustainability', which is now well-known in the field of environmental technology derives from the forest industry.

Wolfgang Herzog, founder of Herzog.Baum worked in the forestry industry himself, and has a deep connection with nature. For this reason, planting in accordance to origin, biodiversity and sustainable forest management have always been key values of our company's philosophy. We actively contribute to preserving our local forests and nature reserves, and therefore also preserving valuable recreational space for humans. We supply seeds and plants not only for re-forestation, and re-cultivation against soil erosion, but also to create valuable habitats for animals and for landscaping purposes.

As experts in the field of forestry, we have been advocates of the conservation of nature and the environment for over 30 years.

Research & Development

Through our constant exchange with growers and research centers, our knowledge is always up-to-date. Our products are built on this knowledge, which we pass along to our loyal customers. Our commitment to practical seminars and field days began early on. To ensure that our findings are accessible, we also offer field trips to company premises, our own research plantations and an annual newsletter. We maintain good contact to the trade press, ensuring regular publications on our company and activities.

Japan visits Herzog

Herzog is a renowned and respected company in the forest and seed industry, and therefor often a contact point for excursions for people from all over the world. Most recently we welcomed guests from Japan. As forestry experts, they were eager to learn more about seed harvesting and the legal framework for it. During a small factory tour and a visit to a corresponding harvesting area, we were able to give our guests practical insights. We made them feel extra cozy with typically Austrian dishes served for lunch. We hope our guests enjoyed their stay and took many positive impressions home with them.

Key hand-over for the company's 30th anniversary

At the beginning of 2019 the company Herzog had every reason to celebrate: the company had just turned 30 years old, and Erika Herzog is handing over the business to her daughter Ursula, and therefor ensuring the continuation of the company. The “Nadel Journal” accompanied a short conversation between Erika and Ursula Herzog as part of the upcoming handover.
