Our Swedish top clones are the all-rounders in short rotation forestry. Like no other species, the willow can be used in colder locations and nutrient-poor soils. It can tolerate waterlogging as well as short periods of drought and is also suitable for soils with higher pH values. Thanks to the special heavy metal absorption of this species, more powerful manure can be applied to fertilize the surfaces.
For machine harvesting in double rows, the following planting layout is recommended: 2.5 m tramline x 0.6 m planting distance x 0.6m row spacing.
When mechanical planting is used, the machine is equipped with rods [lm], which are automatically chopped into cuttings and pressed into the ground. In the above mentioned planting layout 2,700 rods each 1 lm are used, which makes approximately 13,000 cuttings per hectare.
